Project Description
The project consisted of a grade-separated pedestrian crossing at the existing Metrolink station. The structure consists of a prefabricated concrete box, approximately 15 feet deep, 15 feet wide, and 30 feet long, with ramps for wheelchair access to the train and stairs. Diaz•Yourman & Associates (DYA) provided an environmental initial site assessment (ISA) to check for historical evidence of potential site contamination, in general accordance with ASTM Designation E1527, Standard Practice for Environmental Project Site Assessments: Phase I Environmental Property Assessment Process and performed a geotechnical investigation with recommendations. The geotechnical investigation consisted of a data review, soil borings, laboratory testing, engineering analyses, and recommendations for seismic hazards, acceleration response spectra (ARS), site preparation and grading, foundation type and design criteria, estimated total and differential foundation settlements, resistance to lateral loads, lateral earth pressures, shoring type, and soil corrosion potential.
