Project Description

Diaz•Yourman & Associates (DYA) provided geotechnical services for the realignment of a railroad at Alameda Corridor East and Temple Avenue. The project included four miles of new railroad track, which included four new bridges, retaining walls, and several miles of sound walls. Additions to three spans of highway overheads were also constructed. DYA coordinated and participated in the field investigation, which consisted of 45 borings and provided engineering calculations for a variety of different engineering problems, including bearing capacity, elastic and consolidation settlement, and the vertical and lateral capacity of vertical piles. DYA prepared a design report in general accordance with Caltrans requirements.
