Project Description

DYA provided geotechnical services for the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC).  ARTIC is a regional transportation gateway to Orange County; a destination for tourists and those that live and work in the region; a point of origin for local and regional commuters; and a place to transfer between modes of transportation.  ARTIC is a destination in itself with integration of mixed-use development, including retail and office with multimodal access.  Phase 1 developed the regional transportation facility with Iconic features. The facility accommodates existing Metrolink and Amtrak operations, OCTA fixed-route bus service, Bus Rapid Transit, Anaheim Resort Transit shuttles/circulators, "Fly-Away" airport shuttles, taxi services, and more.  This phase included site work and preparation for the entire 15.7-acre property, including demolition of existing structures, hardscape and landscape improvements, utilities and attendant facilities, clearing and grubbing, site grading, road realignment and restoration, utility relocation, and undergrounding of electrical overhead lines; transportation center and supporting facilities, including a terminal building for ticketing and waiting, civic space for passenger and community use, retail space, and potential commercial development (Platinum-level LEED® certification); track work and platforms, including passenger/pedestrian access and platform amenities; parking, including a minimum 1,255-space combination above/below ground parking; public art; and access and street improvements, including reconstruction of the Douglass Road Railroad Bridge, modification of SR-57 crash walls and columns, pedestrian and bicycle improvements, access to Angel Stadium, Metrolink/Amtrak Station, Katella Avenue, and Honda Center, and improving traffic circulation.  DYA provided geotechnical investigations and reports for the proposed Main Building, Concourse Bridge, Service Yard Building, Douglass Road Bridge, retaining walls, station platform, and parking lots.
